भारतीय पुलिस सेवा (IPS) / Indian Police Service 

भारतीय पुलिस सेवा (IPS) समाज में शांति और कानून-व्यवस्था बनाए रखने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाती है। आईपीएस ऑफिसर्स अपराध रोकने, जाँच करने और लोगों की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने के लिए ज़िम्मेदार होते हैं। वे districts में senior police ranks hold करते हैं, police stations को manage करते हैं और law and order maintain करते हैं। आईपीएस ऑफिसर्स विभिन्न agencies में crime investigation में भी involved होते हैं।

IPS officer बनना लाखों students का सपना होता है, जो UPSC civil services exam में compete करते हैं। Best students को ही IPS training academy में select किया जाता है और बाद में officer के रूप में नियुक्त किया जाता है।

IPS का फुल फॉर्म :

IPS की फुल फॉर्म है Indian Police Service। यह तीन All India Services में से एक है और इसका कार्य देश में कानून और व्यवस्था बनाए रखना है।

IPS का इतिहास:

Indian Police Services की शुरुआत British rule के समय से हुई थी। पहले इसे Imperial Police Service के नाम से जाना जाता था। उस समय भारतीयों को officer level positions पर नियुक्त नहीं किया जाता था। स्वतंत्रता के बाद, 1948 में इसका नाम बदलकर Indian Police Service कर दिया गया और भारतीयों को officer बनने का अवसर मिला।

IPS Officer बनने के लिए Eligibility Criteria:

1. उम्मीदवार Indian national होना चाहिए।
2. न्यूनतम आयु 21 साल होनी चाहिए।
3. उम्मीदवार एक मान्यता प्राप्त university से graduate होना चाहिए।
4. Physical fitness standards को पूरा करना चाहिए।
5. General और EWS categories के लिए इस exam के लिए अधिकतम 6 attempts होते हैं।

Recruitment & Training  of an IPS Officer

आईपीएस अफसर बनने के लिए, आपको UPSC Civil Services Exam पास करनी पड़ती है, जो दुनिया के सबसे मुश्किल exams में से एक है। ये exam हर साल होता है और इसके ज़रिए India की सरकार में top positions भरी जाती हैं। इस exam को पास करके आप आसानी से IPS officer बन सकते हैं। जो लोग exam clear कर लेते हैं उन्हें training के लिए Hyderabad भेजा जाता है।

सबसे पहले, selected candidates को Mussoorie की Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration में 3 महीने की joint training दी जाती है। ये training पूरी होने के बाद, IPS officers को report करना होता है।

शुरुआत में, सभी selected candidates की 3 महीने की joint training होती है। ये training हैदराबाद की Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy में होती है। यहाँ candidates को 1 साल तक physical fitness और law enforcement की training दी जाती है।

IPS Officer के Functions और Responsibilities

IPS officers की ज़िम्मेदारी होती है लोगों की सुरक्षा करना, law and order बनाए रखना, crime रोकना और control करना। वो traffic control, VIP security, anti-smuggling operations और disaster management जैसे काम भी देखते हैं।

IPS Officer के Roles और Responsibilities:

• Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP): ASP अपने senior officers जैसे SP (Superintendent of Police), SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) और DIG (Deputy Inspector General of Police) को report करते हैं।
• Superintendent of Police (SP): SP public safety, law and order maintain करने, crime को रोकने और control करने, traffic control करने जैसे कामों के लिए ज़िम्मेदार होते हैं।
• Other Central Police Organizations: IPS officers CBI, BSF, CRPF जैसे organizations में भी अपनी services देते हैं।
• Day-to-Day Operations: इनकी रोज़मर्रा की ज़िम्मेदारियों में public peace, crime prevention, investigation, VIP security, smuggling, drug trafficking, economic crimes, corruption cases, disaster management, environmental laws की protection जैसे काम शामिल हैं।

IPS Officer की Salary

7th Pay Commission के अनुसार, एक नए IPS officer की basic salary 56,100 रुपये प्रति माह से शुरू होती है। इसके अलावा, उन्हें DA (Dearness Allowance), HRA (House Rent Allowance) और TA (Travel Allowance) भी मिलता है। नीचे दी गईtable में rank के हिसाब से पूरी salary दी गई है:
